Hi everyone, I finally implemented my website and blog into a Wordpress powered site and will probably stop posting here. All my previous posts and your comments are already imported into huelsbeck.com and I would also like you to join my site and keep commenting. This move brings very exciting options like automatic translation into other languages and more... stay tuned! :)

As of yesterday, ZombieSmash! is the number one paid app in the US and a lot of other countries! Congratulations to the Game Doctors and big thanks to all the fans who made it possible! This success will ensure further development and free updates (with new music too) for the game and pave the way for more projects of this kind in the future. I am also very happy to be part of this team. :)

I am proud to announce that ZombieSmash! has been released for iPhone/iPod Touch in the Appstore! Also, there are numerous reviews showing up all over the web, including this one on a site called appadvice, which praises the music and sound: "The included soundtrack is deluxe to say the least which mixes a horror theme with a little action to get you in the mood to do the zombie smash. Then there are the various zombie groans, and of course the bone cracking of each smashed zombie that sounds oh so painful." Rating 5/5 :)

Giana Sisters Co-Creator Armin Gessert passed away :(

Armin was a veteran of the games industry and my collegue and friend back in the day at Rainbow Arts, the first serious game developer in Germany. We worked on several titles together and one of them was the very well known Giana Sisters game. We became friends during that time and he was always a fun guy to hang around (he also loved the Pet Shop Boys, despite being more of a 70s Rock Dude). After Rainbow Arts we lost contact for many years and I just reconnected a few years back with a bunch of phone calls. We had planned to get together and I also invited him to my concert, but unfortunately he couldn't make it, so I never shook hands with him again since Rainbow Arts. Armin was only 46 years old and leaves a family with children and a 40+ members company behind. My thoughts are with them and his friends. From the coverage on the internet you can see what an impact he had on the industry and the fans. He will be sorely missed...

I just came back from the trip to Stockholm / Sweden and Germany. The Concert (Sinfonia Drammatica) was totally awesome and exceeded our expectations. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic is a world class orchestra and the famous hall (Stockholm Konserthuset) gave the sound a very pleasant and warm character. I was also thrilled to finally meet Yoko Shimomura and hear her music live. She is a very nice and warm hearted person and I hope to meet her again in the future and maybe work together some day.

In other exciting news: I am working on the soundtrack for a new cool iPhone (a first for me) game called ZombieSmash!, which should be released soon. More to follow about this...

Original Sound Version has posted an interview with Yoko Shimomura and myself about the upcoming concert in Stockholm.

It's now less than 3 weeks until the concert and I am getting very excited to travel to Europe, finally meet Yoko Shimomura in person and enjoy the music performed by one of the best orchestras in the world - totally awesome! :)

We are very happy to announce that there will be another edition of the Symphonic Shades CD album. Though fans can also get the music through iTunes and other online music outlets, some would still like to add a real CD to their collection. This edition differs only in the packaging and is a little more affordable than the first limited collectors edition, but the music is exactly the same. Pre-orders for the new edition are available here.

New concert announced, this time in Stockholm! :)

After Symphonic Shades, I didn't think it would happen so fast again that my music would be performed by a large orchestra, but here we are: The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a new concert called "Sinfonia Drammatica" in Stockholm, Sweden on August 4^th. The concert will combine performances from Symphonic Shades with music from "drammatica -The Very Best of Yoko Shimomura-". I feel very honored, because I am a big fan of Shimomura's work myself.

There is also an exclusive interview on the well known "Square Enix Music Online" website with conductor Arnie Roth, who also conducted the Symphonic Shades concerts.

Finally... I just finished work on the new website and it is now online. Right now the focus is on the professional aspect of my work. The old site may be available as an archive version at a later date. For personal news I will keep posting here much more frequently - that should make it much easier to keep my friends and fans up to date! Enjoy the new site... :)

All new and spiffy - this is my (Chris Huelsbeck) brand new personal blog, where I can tell you (or don't because of nasty NDAs) about what's happening in my life and my work. Well, for starters, I'm currently building a new web presence at www.huelsbeck.com to be launched soon, which will (hopefully) have a much more professional look and feel. I am also starting a new business called Chris Huelsbeck Productions, which will focus on high class music and audio production for Video Games, Film & TV.
